Illinois Prairie Painters
Welcome! Let me tell you a little bit about IPP.
Illinois Prairie Painters is
a chapter of the National Society of Tole and Decorative Painters,
which is made up of tens of thousands of members from all over
the world. The National Society publishes The Decorative Painter,
the society journal, and sponsors a national convention each
year showcasing the newest products in the decorative art market,
along with hundreds of classes available to attendees.
IPP holds five meetings each
year, held on the first Saturday of February, April, October,
December, and a June meeting / paint-in with a date varying depending
on the date of the National Convention. Each meeting begins with
a hospitality hour for shopping and chatting with friends, followed
by a business meeting, raffles, luncheon, and a special program.
These programs are usually demonstrations of various styles of
painting or other art-related subjects.
We host several seminars throughout
the year at which nationally-known teachers share their techniques
and expertise. In addition, we host a painted "spring project"
exchange in April, a weekend painting retreat in October, and
an art show / competition for projects painted by our members
and a painted ornament exchange in December.
An individual may attend one
meeting as a guest. We encourage you to try us out, and experience
firsthand the special feeling of camaraderie that exists among
our members. If you are a painter, or hope to be, we hope that
you will take advantage of what our organization has to offer
and join us.
