Tangle Technique Classes - Zendala
(Prerequisite – Zentangle Basics class)

Date: Sunday, April 22, 2012
Time: 1pm
Class Fee: $35 (includes kit)
Instructor: Sue Jacobs CZT

A Zendala is a fusion of Zentangle and mandalas. A mandala is a circular design that historically has spiritual and religious significance. They represent the cosmos, or symbolically, a view of the Universe from the human perspective. When these designs are combined with the relaxing aspects of Zentangle who knows what will happen? First you will learn three different ways to create your own zendala string. Then we will learn more tangles to fill it with. More tangles will be taught from the CZT classes – these are tangles you CAN’T find online.

Zentangle® is an easy to learn method of creating beautiful images from repetitive patterns. It is a fascinating new art form that is fun and relaxing. It increases focus and creativity. Zentangle® provides artistic satisfaction and an increased sense of personal well being. Zentangle® is enjoyed by a wide range of skills and ages and is used in many fields of interest.

Through deliberate strokes and deliberate focus, Zentangle® almost immediately creates a relaxed state similar to meditation or being “in the zone.” As your eye follows the pen strokes your attention shifts to a state that allows fresh thoughts, new perspectives and creates insights to flow unhindered by anxiety or effort.

Because Zentangle® has no predetermined outcomes, it is impossible to make a mistake. Unintended strokes are simply opportunities to go in unexpected and exciting new directions. It soon becomes a freeing and uplifting experience as you realize you can create never-ending, ever changing ‘solutions’ The Zentangle® art form and method was created by Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas. Zentangle® is a registered trademark of Zentangle, Inc. Learn more at zentangle.com

Zentangles can be used in greeting cards, ornaments, bookmarks, scrap-booking, T-shirts or canvas bags, or just fun artwork.

Classes can be geared to specific holidays or programs. They can be taught individually or as part of an ongoing series. Supplies are minimal, inexpensive, and take up very little space. Classes can be taught anywhere there is a spare table.

Sue Jacobs is a certified teacher of Zentangle®. She is an artist based in South Barrington, Illinois. Sue has trained in a variety of artistic pursuits and can teach at all levels.

Her work has been in the Chicago Tribune and Daily Herald, and national magazines. She has had work showcased in decorator show houses and is the past president of Windy Brushes – a decorative painting organization.
